The 60 lots in this auction are made by indigenous weaving communities residing in regions across the ancient Silk Road, ranging from the Caucasus mountains and Balkans to Kurdistan, Greater Turkestan and parts of South Asia. The auction includes several knotted pile carpets, a flatweave kilim, a horse blanket, a pair of donkey or mule bagfaces, a pillow cover, embroidered textiles and many other unique fabrics and carpets that offer a rare glimpse into the valuable traditions of a historically and culturally rich region from a bygone era.
