"At an indigo factory near Purneah there was a young boar which had been tamed. He used to go out hunting every morning with the dogs, and although he did not actually tackle the jackals, he used to enjoy hunting them. There was also a tame monkey at the same factory which was very friendly with the board, and used to ride him in the hunting field. The dogs used for hunting jackals are a nondescript lot, including village pariahs, greyhounds, foxhounds, terriers, and beagles".
