A South Persian carpet, probably woven by a Qashqai or Luri artisan. The deep burgundy red field contains three prominent diamond-shaped medallions, and the entire carpet is filled with abstract symbols representing flora, fauna and good luck iconography. A beautiful natural ivory wool border filled with crab-shaped icons frames the field. A narrow outer border surrounds the rug with a geometric barber pole design.
