A handsome Caucasian Karabagh area carpet, possibly the product of a semi-settled weaving community working in a village workshop setting. The brick red field is overlaid with a vertical row of five large butterfly motifs. The central panel is framed with a wide ivory-white major border decorated with interconnected flowers.
