St John Horace Stebbing Roscoe was a journalist, editor and author. He contributed to several periodicals and newspapers including 'The Times', 'The Standard' and 'The Athenaeum', mainly writing about politics and Eastern affairs. He was appointed political lead writer for 'The Daily Telegraph' in 1857.
