A very decorative antique old map of Asia with ships surrounding the coast and a fine title cartouche within the map all surrounded by a rococo-style hand colored border.
The map is a original map with hand coloring titled L'Asie, Dressée pour l'étude de la Géographie Desnos and published in Atlas général, civil et ecclésiastique, methodique et élémentaire pour l'etude de la géographie et de l'histoire by Brion de la Tour/Desnos.
Louis Brion de la Tour achieved the title Ingenieur-Geographe du Roi. He was one of the leading cartographers, his work was produced in collaboration with Louis-Charles Desnos (fl. 1750-1790) a the Danish royal cartographer. His most important work is generally considered to be his General Atlas of 1766. Among his most important works is also noted in the Atlas General.
