A South Persian carpet, probably woven by a Khamseh or Shekarlu Qashqai artisan. The composition shows a small flower shaped central medallion surrounded by numerous groups of mahi or fish around lotuses, all seem to be floating on an abrashed indigo body of water. The rug is framed by a beautiful major border showing an abstract scrolling vine formed with diamond shaped flowers. Two flanking minor borders containing flowers and leaves complete the composition.
