A Kurdish carpet from the Bidjar region of North Persia. The carpet is composed of a large central medallion flanked by two pendants, and this trio formation is again enclosed in a large blue medallion overlaid on a red central panel. The rug is framed with a system of three borders, all of them filled with various rosette forms. Of particular note is a small triangular section at the top left end of the outer border, a naïve attempt by the weaver to straighten out the rectangular shape of the carpet. A strong and tightly woven carpet.
The carpet has a lining measuring 105.1 x 68.7 in (267 x 174.5 cm)
