A Persian Kurdish carpet from the present-day area bordering Iran and Iraq, woven by the Jaff or Sanjabi tribe. The central panel is covered with six hexagonal medallions laid in pairs on six vertically ascending rows, with a row of two half hexagons at the top end. Smaller hexagons cover the areas between the large hexagons. All these geometric medallions have been filled with large crab icons. Two bar and rosette borders frame the carpet. Of particular note are two sheep or goats in the centre of the carpet.
