A Kurdish carpet from the Northeast Persian area of Khorasan. The carpet has an inner set of borders framing the central section into prayer arches on both the top and the bottom, sometimes referred to as the re-entrant prayer arches composition. Beautiful diamond shaped flowers have been arranged to create the outlines of three diamonds on the central vertical axis. Various talismanic and floral elements are packed into the overall central panel and the four corner spandrels contain crab icons.
