An unusual Chinese carpet, probably from an artisanal workshop in a village around the Peking area. The iconography is a mix of playful animals, people, boats, fish and dragons, all appearing to float on a blue background likely representing the open blue seas. There appears to be a set of Roman numerals inscribed along one of the edges which may translate to an approximate Christian calendar year in the
1950s.
