Catalogue raisonne of the Victoria and Albert Museum collection. The Kalighat paintings were sold to pilgrims visiting the temple between 1800 & 1930. The Bengali scroll painting tradition & the British watercolour tradition influenced their style. This book describes the social, cultural, religious & economic circumstances of their production as well as explains their symbolism.
