Beautifully illustrated by the wife of the Governor of Madras who lived in Southern India for over six years and who had close ties with the Maharaja of Mysore. Lady Lawley's landscapes have a bright and almost impressionistic quality, but she truly excels with her portraits, which exquisitely display the richness of Indian fabrics and jewelry in vivid detail.
