pp. 528 with 35 (of 36) woodcut illustrations, mostly full-page including the frontispiece. "Gobram or pagoda" image called for at page 283 is neither in-text, nor is there any indication of a plate being removed; half leather binding with worn covers

The author was a missionary of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions at Madras.
