Madhubani art or Mithila painting is a form of traditional Indian art, practised primarily in the Mithila region of Bihar. Madhubani paintings are noted for using two-dimensional imagery and employing colours sourced from nature. These paintings often depict religious, cultural, and mythological themes and subjects - such as scenes from religious epics, court scenes and wedding ceremonies, and portrayals of Hindu deities. In addition to the main subjects, Madhubani paintings also feature floral, animal and bird motifs, as well as geometric designs, all of which are used as decorative elements to brighten up the works of art.
