One of the finest maps produced in 19th century, this original hand coloured map is renowned for its fine detailing, colour and size, making it an outstanding map of this era. The map shows the entire Indian subcontinent. Numerous cities, towns, rivers, mountains and deserts are provided in great details. The right hand side of the map shows mapping of Ganges, including a cross section of the Ganges, map of inland navigations routes from Bay of Bengal to Allahabad, and a map of the course of Ganges during the dry season. Prepared by John Thomson for the inclusion in the 1817 edition of Thomson's New General Atlas.
