A superb original colour map of Indian Subcontinent and South East Asia by Johnson and Browning, with typical strapwork style border common to Johnson Atlases. Various countries shown have been depicted in various colours, as well as there are extensive details of roads, cities, town, river systems. The map has three inset maps of Bombay, Madras and Calcutta, with vignette of the Government House and Treasury in Calcutta at the upper left corner.

Johnson started publishing atlases in 1860. He was a book canvasser who earlier sold maps and atlases and later started publishing them.
