Detailed map of India from South of Goa, from Chatelain's monumental Atlas Historique, published in Amsterdam. The map shows Southern India from the Kingdoms of Visapour, Carnate and Golconde in the North to the Cape Comorin in the South including historical notes and a list of the lands, kingdoms and provinces, provincial capitals.

The map also includes three text boxes giving details of the region and its divisions including minor details like the Western Ghats and wild animals in hills and forests.

After a map by H. Reland (1676-1718) a Utrecht professor who specialized in Asian languages, geography and religions.

Henri Abraham Chatelain was the best known Dutch cartographer. He was also Huguenot pastor of Parisian origins, he lived in Paris, St. Martins, London (c. 1710), The Hague (c. 1721) and Amsterdam (c. 1728).
