Zlata Llamas (Dona Luisa Coomaraswamy), American (born Argentina), worked as a society photographer under the professional name Xlata Llamas and was the third wife of Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy.
Carbon prints are usually richer and more intense than albumen prints. This high quality black and white photograph has been highlighted in black in the background bringing out excellent tonal values. They were more popular in Europe than in America, and were often used to reproduce artworks, and for book illustrations.
