A large print on tiger hunting in the neighbourhood of Murshidabad in Bengal, India, by Hungarian artist Count Mano Andrasy [1821-91] who travelled across India and the Far East in the 1850s.
Count Emanuel Andrasy (Mano Andrassy) was a Hungarian nobleman, and also a huntsman and artist. He participated in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 but fled Budapest in 1849 during the Austrian invasion. He arrived in England, from where he travelled further east to the Indian subcontinent and neighbouring countries. This rare work was first published in Hungarian in 1853, as seen in the present lot and later translated into German.
