Written for bookbinders and book collectors alike, this volume details the processes of bookbinding, particularly leather binding, by world-renowned bookbinder Kerstin Tini Miura; Miura demonstrates the French technique of bookbinding, many aspects of which have not been documented before, as the techniques are usually passed down from teacher to student. A highly skilled bookbinder who has exhibited around the world and is the recipient of several bookbinding awards, Miura reveals her own process as well as a love of books, and she shows the benefits of a gorgeous and well-executed binding, not only to protect valuable books but also to showcase the beauty of the book as object.
Kerstin Tini Miura studied bookbinding techniques and design in Germany, Switzerland and France. Since 1968 Tini has lectured and taught on four continents, is featured in several TV documentaries as well as in numerous magazines and newspaper articles. Her work has been exhibited more than sixty times worldwide. Five books about Tini's work have been published so far.
