Signed by Tagore on a front blank below the signature of the owner of the book Helen Augusta Brooks, with a note in a third hand that this copy was used by the author for a reading in Los Angeles in 1916, and that the poems read on that occasion had been chosen by Brook's aunt.
The poem "Sleep-Stealer" has the original book mark to indicate the poem he intended to read.
Brooks was the director of the Cummock School for expression in Los Angeles. The following lines are written about it on the front end paper it goes like this:-
"In trinity auditorium on the afternoon of October 12, 1916 in Los Angeles, Sir Rabindranath Tagore read the following poems from Helen's copy of the crescent moon. On the seashore, the source, the champa flower, the hero and the last bargain. He had intended to read the sleep-stealer but did not see the mark. The poems were selected in the little room on the roof by Helen's auntie - HELEN
