SOMERSET MAUGHAM: SIGNED PHOTOGRAPH ALONG WITH A LETTER

Beloved writer Somerset Maugham typed letter signed on 28th February 1953, written on stationery from the French suites La Villa Mauresque. Maugham writes to a Mr. Soorya Prasad, 'Thank you for your charming letter. It was extremely kind of you to write to me and it gave me much pleasure. You ask me so many questions that I don't know where to begin answering them. I am, at the present time, writing a series of essays. I have one daughter, three grandsons and a grand daughter. I live in South ofFrance, it is warm and sunny here. You must forgive me if I answer your letter briefly because I have recently had two serious illnesses and an operation, and I am still rather frail. I send you the only photograph that I have here.
