This collection of poems in English, translated from Hindi by the poet himself, is inscribed on half-title: "For Ineke Holzhans/ In warm appreciation/ Agyeya/ Rotterdam Poetry Festival/ June 1984". Agyeya's signatures in Hindi.

Vatsyayana's penname, meaning 'Beyond Comprehension', was also spelt Ajneya. He was an eminent Hindi poet, critic, journalist and fiction writer of the 20th century.
