Gustave Le bon (7 May 1841 - 13 December 1931) was a French polymath whose areas of interest included anthropology, psychology, sociology, medicine, invention. In 1884, he was commissioned by the French government to travel around Asia and report on the civilisations there. The results of hisjourneys were a number of books. He published Les Civilisations de l'Inde (1887), in which he

applauded Indian architecture, art and religion.
