Ambika devi, a Madhubani painting artist and a national awardee, belongs to Rasidpur village in Madhubani distict, Bihar, India. She makes Mithila paintings, which is special kind of art found only in Madhubani distict in Bihar. She inherited this art from her mother, Smt. Leela Devi and has been passed on from generation to generation. After having received her National Award in 2009, she participated in several exhibitions, workshops and training programmes in various schools and colleges across India. She has also participated in Marie Claire - Dastkar fashion show, which brought together 15 designers with craftspersons from all over India to create trendy garments using traditional crafts in their own influential style.
