Satish Gupta’s works are inspired by experiences in places of worship over the years. His art spans the tranquility of the stone temple in Mahabalipuram with the sea flowing through the sleeping Vishnu’s veins, to the intense power of the Shivalingams in the temples of Varanasi, to the timeless Brahmin at Angkor, to the vibrancy in the orange-and-rust Ganesha in Rajasthan to the dark power of the Goddess at Kalighat. This work, "GWAL", is an attribute to the mystic lure of Shreenathji and the glorious celebration of colour, as he is adorned by his adoring devotees through the day.
