Manchaha, a hindi word popular in Rajasthan's weaving community, means
'expression of my heart'.The rug Manbhar by Manbhar and her daughter, Laxmi
is part of Manchaha, a sustainable initiative where weavers get to design
their own rug spontaneously on the loom. Relying on instinct and sharing
their ideas openly, the rug is inspired by elements of day to day life in
Kekri, Rajasthan; a flower vase from a notebook, a traditional local snack '
shakkarpada and the designs of flowers and leaves. With all its colours and
truly being made from the heart, it got its name not for its maker, but for
its meaning ' 'to my heart's satisfaction'. Manbhar is made of 222,184
individual knots in every square meter using hand-spun leftover yarn in
carpet production which cannot be used afresh.
