The Tangali Bench was designed by Milan based furniture design duo INODA+SVEJE exclusively for Phantom Hands. The initial prototype was developed in August 2018 in the Phantom Hands workshop in Bangalore, as an interactive process between the designers and the artisans. Innovation in cane weaving was a key design element for INODA+SVEJE and they encouraged the team of cane weavers at Phantom Hands to make patterns that are not traditionally seen in Indian furniture.

In keeping with the craft based production principles of Phantom Hands, the organic contours of the bench are completely shaped by hand. The bench can be used either for seating or as a side table. The name 'Tangali' in Kannada refers to the cool monsoon breeze that accompanied INODA+SVEJE's visit to the Phantom Hands workshop.
