Description
A royal mount from time immemorial, the elephant has also been a symbol of strength and wealth. For the Rajput kings, the elephants were of especial significance not only during war but also during the royal festivities-a must at royal pageant. The king always mounted a caparisoned elephant. The mahouts (elephant keepers) take great care to decorate the elephants from tusk to tail. In India, camels, horses, and elephants are dressed in the best of their finery and are brought out in a processionduring important events. The Indians love for symbolism and grandeur is evident in these elaborate rituals. In this picture the Camel represents Stamina and Self sufficiency, Horse is a symbol of Power and Progress, and the Elephant epitomizes Wealth and Wisdom.
About Indian Art
Poetry amongst the woods, with all its unparalleled, salient features is an outcome of the quest and creative restlessness of the Pune based innovative artist couple - Charuhas Pandit and his wife, Bhagyashree who have founded the Wood Craft company "Srujan Art". Their quest for an aesthetic, soft yet expressive medium led them to explore these hitherto unexplored possibilities of expression. A perfect medium to express and inherit the legacy of the choicest themes from the vast ocean of centuries old Indian art.
Wood Craft is an ingenious art form which combines the intricacy of wood carving with the delightful creative strains of a work of art. This involves using wood pieces in their natural colours and textures, delicately cutting and creating the best composition and presenting it in the required theme. The result is a masterpiece that is interesting too, owing to its '3D within 2D' illusory effect.
