About Serigraphs IV: Thota Vaikuntam

Thota Vaikuntam hails from Andhra Pradesh, in South India, and finds his inspiration in the rural areas of the state. Men and women of his village are often the central characters of his work. Traditional women of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh feature prominently in Vaikuntam's work, with broad foreheads smeared with vermilion and turmeric. They are typically presented as offering flowers in religious rituals, simply conversing with one another, tending to their children, or conjoining with the men in a Radha-Krishan like pose.
